Attorney general candidate Dougherty genuinely cares about people
I’m writing to share my personal experience and why I support Michael Dougherty for Colorado Attorney General. Over the past several years, I’ve struggled with mental health challenges that have brought me into the criminal justice system more than once. Those are not easy experiences, but I can say honestly that the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office has treated me with fairness, dignity, and understanding every step of the way.
Most recently, I found myself in serious trouble after my psychiatrist made a mistake with my medication dosage. It led to poor decisions and a situation that could have ended much worse for me. Instead, the deputy district attorney assigned to my case, Brandon Rosenbach, and he worked to reach a resolution that was fair and took my circumstances into account. Rosenbach was more attentive to the specific scenario regarding my mental health, than the vast majority ofactual mental health services were, or still are. That mattered more than I can fully express.
What stands out to me is that this kind of approach doesn’t happen by accident. It reflects leadership. Michael Dougherty has made it a priority to create programs like the mental healthdiversion program, which has helped people like me get the support we need instead of just being punished. I’ve seen firsthand how that approach can change lives.
In my experience, Michael Dougherty is not just tough when he needs to be—he is thoughtful, community-oriented, and genuinely cares about people. That’s exactly the kind of leadership we need in our Attorney General.
Sincerely,
Jack Seifert
